Welcome to the Blue River Fly Classic
The BRFC is an annual event held the first Saturday of March each year at the Blue River Public Fishing and Hunting Area. The purpose of the Blue River Fly Classic is two-fold. First, the mission of this event is creating a day of greater fellowship among the fly-fishing community on Blue River. Secondly, this event is designed as a fund-raising event with the totality of monies raised by entries fees going directly to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife in support of the Catch and Release section at Blue River. Funds will be monitored by and through the Blue River Association.
This year’s Blue River Fly Classic will be held on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024. All contestants this year will receive a special memento for their involvement in the Blue River Public Hunting and Fishing area. The memento is from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation and will declare each recipient as a River Keeper!
The goal of the Blue River Fly Fishers will be a higher sense and elevated stewardship on Blue River this season. This season there will be a huge focus on the gathering and removal of discarded fishing line which serves as a great determinant to fish, fowl and mammals.
The Blue River is a 3,367-acre river is best known for its abundance of rainbow trout, small-mouth and largemouth bass, spotted bass, crappie and channel catfish. During the colder months of November through mid-March Blue River is a designated trout area with rainbow trout stocked every week.
Registration begins on January 1st and Special T-shirts come with all participants that enter by the February 16th, 2024 deadline. We look forward to see you at the 2024 Blue River Fly Classic!
